What's with all this unpatriotic UnAmericanism?
This is as apolitical as it can get. When I underwent my transformation, I first cut out all the worst foods. Fast food, deep fried, white flour, HFCS, desserts, rich sauces, red meat - all the things we Americans eat routinely. When I lost so much fat so quickly, I realized how easy it had been. And I didn't have to use some strange diet to do it.
When I avoided the most American of foods - and a very American way of thinking about food and exercise - I was able to free myself from the cycle of diets and guilt that had plagued me for more than a decade.
Yes, maybe our country has altered its food in many ways, and maybe those changes have packed on the pounds for many of us. But you have to appreciate that its merely the powerful American economy doing what it does best. Making products that sell better, more of them, doing it faster, and making them easier to afford. Better, more, faster, easier. What could be more American than that?
